Fragrant fernMicrosorum scandens ( Phymatosorus scandens )Mokimoki |
|
|
Frequently found in the Mangemangeroa Reserve covering decaying stumps. This fern forms a dense cover of fronds of a variety of shapes. The younger fronds tend to be just a single blade. Fragrant fern fronds have dark veins. Used by the Maori as a scent for hair and as a body oil scent. Evidently tt smells like almond icing (I have not yet noticed this smell!). |
